Code of Conduct...
A Heart for Marietta
Effective from September 18, 2024

Welcome to aheartformarietta.org's Code of Conduct. We are truly excited to have you visit, explore and interact with our website. Thank you for choosing to use our services.

The community is the space where all Visitors and/or Users (members) feel welcome to make connections, share thoughts, feelings, insights about the experiences they've had within the scope of AHFM Services or even more broadly in terms of their experience in being a Christian. At AHFM, our desire is that we build community together - a community that spans across every aspect of our local community, forging new relationships and building a stronger, more loving community that glorifies our Lord and Savior. As such, this is to be a safe place where we communicate and share content that is meant to build up others, i.e., expressing the fruits of the Spirit; not being critical of others.

As with the various electronic social media platforms, people can share and express themselves. This is where our Social Community Code of Conduct comes in. It's here to ensure that everyone, including the team at AHFM, is on the same page; to keep the community vision alive and well. In order to stay aligned with our community values, here are some green flags to follow and some red flags to avoid.

1. Belonging
Come as you are and feel at home, no matter your background or life experiences.

Green flags
The community belongs to everyone in it, so be welcoming to all. Treat members with respect, both on and offline, regardless of background or anything that they may share, in order to help create an inviting environment, where everyone feels at home. The slogan of "What Would Jesus Do?" holds truth and weight here in this social environment.

Red flags
We hold a zero-tolerance policy towards offensive conduct, communication, harassment, and bullying. Discrimination based on characteristics such as religion (even denomination), race, ethnicity, nationality, culture, language, sex/gender, sexuality, age, disability, mental health, neurodiversity, physical appearance, or any other defining trait is strictly prohibited.
We'll monitor for what we believe to be offensive, but otherwise we'll leave it to the Lord to do the cleaning.

2. Growth
Exchange knowledge and embrace new opportunities to go beyond your past.

Green flags
We welcome you to post your thoughts, your experiences, your observations, and revelations. Join discussions and share what you've learned along the way and thereby grow with others. Be active in the community and take on new opportunities to expand in new ways in your Christian walk.

Red flags
Don't gatekeeper your insights and experiences that you think may help others in their journeys. However, do be conscious of unnecessarily sharing any of your own (or other's) personal or private information. We must consistently honor everyone.

3. Work together in new opportunities
Make connections, work together and open doors to new opportunities.

Green flags
At AHFM, we desire to build up the Church of Marietta. Making connections where we join with one another in different environments aligns with this and there are many scriptural examples where disciples served as missionaries beyond their normal areas of daily living. We encourage you to seize the opportunity to serve in locations and capacities where you may not have done so before. Embrace your differences in experience to learn from and help one another.

Red flags
While we encourage seeking out opportunities to work together, this community is not the space for the solicitation of business or commercial self-promotion. Likewise, the community is not a place for posts that name, criticize and damage the reputation of other community members. When in doubt, "WWJD?"

4. Be Curious
Ask questions - never stop exploring and growing.

Green flags
Stay curious and keep the questions flowing - it helps everyone feel comfortable in doing the same. The community is a learning-friendly environment; there's no such thing as a stupid question.

Red flags
Make sure to avoid embarrassing or judging anyone. When you interact with someone else in our social community, take care to not make the assumption that everyone else has a similar experience or understanding that you have.

5. Support
When sharing, receive and give advice to build each other up and overcome any challenge. Let's do well with a mindset that exemplifies (AMP) Proverbs 27:17,
As iron sharpens iron,
So one man sharpens [and influences] another [through discussion].

Green flags
Feel free to reach out to your community members for extra support and to offer your own constructive support to help others. We all face similar challenges, so sharing good advice and Godly wisdom can help others.

Red flags
It can be easy to misconstrue someone else's support for criticism. Therefore, be mindful to reread your own contributions while having the mindset of how others may or could potentially interpret it - before you post your comments. Be careful to not give advice or support that you wouldn't appreciate receiving yourself from someone else.

6. Inspiration
Let's keep our hearts tuned to the Lord and keep our eyes on what's out there in other circles so that we can collectively follow the Lord's leading.

Green flags
Keep the community looking forward by sharing things that spark inspiration. Be inspired and inspire others by sharing successes (and even failures) with one another. And, if you feel that something is especially noteworthy as something that AHFM should consider for the ministry, we want to know about it! So, please email us at getinvolved@aheartformarietta.org.

Red flags
While we want to be forward-looking, please also share your thankfulness in what we currently have.

7. Impact
Harness the power of community to make a difference, together, especially when coupled with the Lord's leading and power!

Green flags
Use your service, efforts, inspiration and voice to build the Church of Marietta. You hold power in shaping the future of our community. Be an active member and make the most of it. Share your thanks about the ministry, our Event Hosts, and/or our other partners.

Red flags
With great power comes great responsibility - and even the Lord's reward - so use it wisely. Please avoid creating or contributing to a negative environment where community members feel slighted or not valued.

Spot a red flag in our Social Community?

Let us know at getinvolved@aheartformarietta.org.

How we handle red flags:
If any red flags are spotted, we'll first ask the relevant community member(s) involved to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. However, if this issue isn't resolved in a timely manner or if it continues, we may take further measures that include removing members from all community channels, as well as removing, at our own discretion, any questionable content.

We thank you all for being the best version of yourself in every circumstance!!!
